NEW ORLEANS, LA (October 23, 2025) — The New Orleans Police Department has confirmed that a second individual involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Morrison Road and Read Boulevard has died. The driver of a black Chevrolet Camaro, who was transported to a local hospital following the collision, has now been pronounced deceased.

According to NOPD’s Seventh District officers, the crash occurred around 10:23 a.m. Thursday morning. Officers responded to reports of a severe vehicle collision involving a white BMW SUV and the black Chevrolet Camaro. Preliminary findings indicate that the BMW was traveling eastbound on Morrison Road when it collided with the Camaro, which was heading southbound on Read Boulevard.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced the driver of the BMW deceased at the scene. The driver of the Camaro, initially transported via EMS for emergency treatment, succumbed to injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The names of the deceased have not yet been released, pending official identification and notification of next of kin.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine and release the victims’ identities as well as the official causes of death once autopsies have been completed.
Authorities say that the NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit is continuing its investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash. At this time, it is unclear whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the deadly collision. The intersection of Morrison and Read was temporarily closed following the accident as investigators processed the scene and cleared debris.
Residents in the area described the scene as “chaotic,” with several emergency vehicles responding within minutes of the crash. Traffic in the surrounding area was rerouted for several hours while police conducted their investigation and clean-up crews worked to reopen the roadway.
The intersection, located in the Seventh District, has been the site of multiple serious accidents in recent years, according to local residents, who have called for additional traffic controls or safety improvements to reduce the frequency of collisions in the area.
The NOPD is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact the NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit detectives at 504-658-6205.
Police officials emphasized that the investigation remains active and that additional updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
