HARLINGEN, Texas — A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Harlingen community after a weekend mobile home fire claimed the lives of two young sisters.

Authorities say 11-year-old Alexia and 13-year-old Yulissa were unable to escape when flames quickly engulfed their family’s mobile home. The fire spread with such speed and intensity that their mother, Laura Gonzalez, could only manage to get her three other children to safety before the blaze became too dangerous.

In the chaos, Gonzalez not only lost her daughters but also the phone that held countless treasured photos and videos of them — memories now irreplaceable.

The family is now grappling with unimaginable grief as they face the reality of life without Alexia and Yulissa. Loved ones and community members are rallying to offer support in any way possible during this time of devastating loss.
