Marcos Alia,Aristeo Jimenez Obituary, Death; – The California Highway Patrol has identified a 19-year-old woman from Salinas as the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident on Highway 183 last week that left two people dead.

Investigators say Kassandra Zavalarear rear-ended a red sedan, pushing it into the path of an oncoming semi-truck just south of Castroville.
Two passengers died at the scene, and the driver of the sedan remains in the hospital.

CHP investigators say they plan to submit their reports to prosecutors requesting that Kassandra Zavala be charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.

Zavala was also taken to the hospital for minor to moderate injuries. She is out of custody and will likely receive a notice to appear in court if prosecutors go forward with the charges.

Killed in the accident were Marcos Alia, 35, of Salinas, and Aristeo Jimenez, 31, of Port Hueneme. The 20-year-old sedan driver remains in the hospital in critical condition as of Monday.
