Authorities are actively investigating a double homicide after the bodies of two women were found near a rural road in the Rembert area.
On August 8, at approximately 1:17 p.m., deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from a landowner who discovered the bodies in a clearing along Richbow Road. Officials noted that the bodies appeared to have been deliberately placed at the location.
The victims have been identified as Kristen N. Grissom and Christine Marie McAbee.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has been requested to assist in the ongoing investigation. Autopsy results are pending to determine the cause and approximate time of death.
Sheriff Dennis emphasized, “We have begun our investigation, and we will have to wait until we have the results of the autopsies to know more. In the meantime, we cannot speculate.”
