Fatal Crash in Winn Parish, Louisiana Claims the Life of 40-Year-Old Driver

A tragic two-vehicle crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 471 near Atlanta on August 11, 2025, resulting in the death of 40-year-old Dustin Demoss from Monroe, Louisiana. Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the scene around 3:20 p.m. to investigate the fatal collision.

According to the initial findings from the Louisiana State Police, Demoss was driving a 1995 Dodge work truck northbound on Highway 471 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed over the centerline into the southbound lane. The Dodge collided head-on with a 2012 GMC.

Sadly, Demoss, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the GMC, both properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with toxicology samples being collected for analysis. Louisiana State Police continue to emphasize that distracted or inattentive driving remains a leading cause of accidents in the state.

As this investigation unfolds, Louisiana State Police urge all motorists to remain alert and focused while driving. A momentary lapse in awareness can lead to devastating consequences, underscoring the importance of paying full attention on the road.

The family and friends of Dustin Demoss are left grieving this heartbreaking loss, and the community is reminded of the fragile nature of life on the road.
