David Garey Jnr, a beloved member of the Bessbrook and Newry community, passed away peacefully at his home on 18th September 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his kind heart, unwavering devotion to his family, and quiet strength, David’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication.

David was the dearly beloved husband of Rosie and a devoted father to Shaun (Aine) and Katie (Darren). He was a proud and loving Granda to Kaylee-Rose, Eireann, and Jack, who were the joy of his life. Cherished son of David Snr and the late Nancy (RIP), David was also a beloved brother to Gerard (Colleen), and a much-loved nephew, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend to many.

A man of deep faith and commitment to his community, David will be remembered for his warm presence, generosity, and willingness to support those around him. Whether spending time with his grandchildren, sharing a story with neighbours, or simply offering a kind word, David had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued.

David’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him, but his legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. His Requiem Mass will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Cloughreagh, followed by interment in Ss Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Bessbrook.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Evora Hospice Newry in David’s memory.

David lived by the words of St. Paul: “I have fought the good fight, I have run the race to the finish.” St. Pio of Pietrelcina, pray for him. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
