It is with profound sadness that the community, friends, and fellow servicemembers mourn the passing of Michael Doerr, a devoted husband, father, and veteran who proudly served in the 198th Military Police Battalion.

Michael’s life was marked by service, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to the people around him. His passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael’s journey began in San Diego, California, before his path eventually led him to Louisville, Kentucky, where he made his home and built a life centered around family, faith, and service.

He attended Fern Creek Traditional High School, where many lifelong friendships were forged. Known for his humor, intelligence, and big heart, Michael’s early years reflected the character that would guide him throughout his life.

Pursuing higher education, Michael studied at Indiana Wesleyan University, continuing to expand his knowledge and skills while balancing his passion for service.

He went on to serve with distinction in the Kentucky Army National Guard and the United States Army, dedicating years of his life to protecting his country and supporting his fellow soldiers. His time with the 198th Military Police Battalion left an indelible mark on both the unit and the individuals who served alongside him.

Fellow servicemembers recall Michael as “the best of the best”—a man whose leadership, dedication, and compassion extended to everyone, from senior officers to the youngest enlisted soldiers.
