Doris MacDonald Death: Doris MacDonald of Scottsbluff and Torrington Dies at 69

Doris MacDonald Death – The community of Torrington, Scottsbluff, and beyond is mourning the loss of Doris Mae Dickinson MacDonald, whose radiant presence and unwavering spirit touched countless lives. Doris was born on August 8, 1955, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Bertie and Gerry Dickinson. From the very beginning, she carried a spark that made her unforgettable, a spark that remained vibrant until her passing on June 18, 2025.

Those who knew Doris describe her as fiery, spunky, and full of life. She had an infectious sense of humor and a bold personality that commanded attention while putting others at ease. With her warm heart and quick wit, she made every space feel like home, whether she was sharing a laugh, preparing a meal, or lending a listening ear to someone in need.

Doris grew up in Morrill, Nebraska, where she attended Morrill High School and graduated in 1973. She later pursued higher education at Chadron State College, earning her degree in 1977. Two years later, in 1979, she married the love of her life, David MacDonald. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising three children. Doris cherished her role as a mother, pouring her heart into every moment of parenthood.

Her love extended beyond family to her community and all who crossed her path. She was known for her fierce loyalty, her generosity, and her ability to make others feel seen and valued. Whether standing up for someone she loved, cracking a sharp and well-timed joke, or offering support in times of need, Doris left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Faith was at the very core of Doris’s life. She lived with deep and unshakable trust in her Lord, finding strength in her relationship with Christ. This faith sustained her through life’s challenges and gave her peace in her final days. For those grieving her loss, there is comfort in knowing she is now reunited with loved ones who went before her, resting in the arms of her Savior.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Jamie Dickinson, Geraldine Overton, Sharon Karnes, and her beloved son, Jonathan MacDonald. Her legacy continues through her devoted husband, Dave; her children Zach and Liz; her son-in-law Eric; her daughter-in-law Wendy; and her treasured grandchildren, Sappho and Tenzing. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry her memory forward.

A funeral service will be held at Christ Reformed Presbyterian Church in Torrington on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. Following the service, a graveside gathering will take place in Morrill. Lunch will be served at La Familia Prado at 1 p.m., and a Celebration of Life will follow at the MacDonald home in Torrington, where friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in her honor.

The world is indeed dimmer without Doris MacDonald’s light, but her laughter, strength, and compassion will shine on in the lives she touched.
