Columbus, OH – Police have identified the woman killed in a triple shooting earlier this week at an East Columbus apartment complex as 22-year-old Janaysia Lewis.

Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the Sterling Court Apartments, near Stelzer Road, around 9:24 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they discovered three women suffering from gunshot wounds.

Lewis was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. The two other victims sustained injuries to a foot and a hand; both are expected to recover, police said.

Investigators quickly identified the alleged shooter as Zandra Wignal, 32. According to a criminal complaint, Wignal admitted to firing the shots, telling officers she opened fire on Lewis after being shoved during an argument, and then shot the other two women as they tried to wrestle the gun away.

Wignal was taken into custody at the scene and appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court on Friday, where a judge set her bond at $750,000. She is charged with murder, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 26.

Authorities said the shooting remains under investigation as detectives work to piece together the events leading up to the deadly confrontation. Police are urging anyone with additional information about the case to contact the Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit or submit tips anonymously through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.

The incident marks another act of violence shaking local neighborhoods, with city leaders renewing calls for conflict resolution and community safety efforts.
