DaeShawn Dewayne Harkey Arrested;- A teenager was tragically shot and killed in Huntsville on Saturday night, as reported by officials from the Huntsville Police Department.

On Saturday at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the Huntsville Police Department were dispatched to TeeJay Drive in response to a potential shooting incident.

Authorities indicated that officers found a 16-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to save his life, the victim was declared dead at the scene.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit of HPD arrived to take charge of the investigation. Authorities stated that the inquiry revealed the victim was inside a residence on TeeJay Drive with 18-year-old DaeShawn Dewayne Harkey.

Authorities reported that Harkey thought the firearm he was handling was not loaded when it accidentally discharged, resulting in the victim being struck and killed.

Harkey has been arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail, where he faces charges of manslaughter.
