Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash while attempting to overtake a pickup truck on an unregistered motorcycle as 34-year-old David Yanez Jr.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Yanez’s death on Wednesday, ruling it an accident.

The collision occurred around 8:25 p.m. on August 9 near the intersection of SW 36th Street and Marbauch Avenue. Police say Yanez was riding along Marbauch when he attempted to pass a pickup truck, colliding with a Ford F-150.

When officers arrived, Yanez was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old girl who had been riding as a passenger was transported to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No criminal charges have been filed in connection with the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
