Norlan Guzman-Fuentes Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Dallas have confirmed the identity of one of the victims who perished when a gunman opened fire at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility on Wednesday, identifying him as an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador.

Norlan Guzman-Fuentes, aged 37, was in custody at the time of his death during a sniper attack on the ICE Dallas Field Office. Guzman had been detained by local law enforcement prior to being taken into custody by ICE.

ICE records indicate that the specifics of Guzman’s illegal entry into the United States remain unclear. However, his criminal record traces back to February 19, 2012, when he was arrested and charged with battery, improper exhibition of a firearm or dangerous weapon, and criminal mischief by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in Palm Springs, Florida. All charges were dismissed except for the criminal mischief charge.

On August 25, the Dallas Police Department apprehended Guzman, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He also had an outstanding warrant for driving while intoxicated. That same day, ICE took him into custody at the Dallas County Jail following his arrest and placed an immigration detainer on him.

On September 10, the aggravated assault charge was dismissed.
On September 24, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Dallas apprehended Guzman based on the detainer issued for his arrest. Upon his arrival at the ERO Dallas Field Office, ICE officers encountered an active shooter at the facility, who was targeting immigration officials.

Officials reported that the suspect, 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, aimed to instill fear by killing federal agents. Jahn subsequently took his own life after the attack.
