York County’s medical examiner informed the media that a 64-year-old prisoner was located deceased within the confines of the prison complex on the early hours of Sunday, September 28, as per an official statement.

The deceased individual, Juan Gualberto Ortiz-Ortiz, was initially observed in a state of no responsiveness inside his solitary confinement cell during the predawn period of that day. Medical personnel commenced life-saving measures immediately, but regrettably, resuscitation attempts proved unsuccessful.

A formal declaration of death was documented at 5:39 a.m. State law enforcement officials are conducting an inquiry into these developments. A post-mortem examination was concluded on September 29 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

The preliminary findings are still pending additional laboratory assessments, with no evidence pointing to any unusual circumstances or physical injuries being evident at the time of the examination.
