Deshawn Welch Obituary, Death; – A man has been charged with murder in connection with the Friday morning shooting in Headland that led to the death of one person.

19-year-old Shaun Michael Davis of Headland has been charged one one count of Capital Murder and one charge of second-degree Assault.

Davis was taken into custody earlier this afternoon, according to Henry County 911 executive director Chad Sowell, but was not immediately identified at the time of his arrest.
The shooting took place at around 10:58 a.m. at the Greentree Apartment complex, with police arriving on scene to two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, who was shot in the abdomen, was transported by Headland Fire and Rescue to the hospital for treatment, while the other victim, identified later as 25-year-old Deshawn Welch, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Headland Police Chief Mark Jones thanked the Kinsey Police Department, ALEA, Headland Fire and Rescue, and Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship, and Dothan Police Chief Will Benny for their assistance in the case.
