Bond was denied Thursday for 24-year-old Raymona Ford, who was arrested Wednesday in connection with the drowning death of a 2-year-old in Tallahassee.
According to the Tallahassee Police Department, Ford has been charged with murder following a months-long investigation that concluded the child’s drowning was the result of foul play.
The case stems from an incident nearly three months ago when officers responded to a call at the Magnolia Terrace Apartments regarding a child who had allegedly drowned in a bathtub. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures before transporting the child to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, the child died four days later.
Investigators say their findings revealed Ford had struck the child multiple times, causing seizures, and then left him unattended in the bathtub, leading to his drowning.
Authorities have not released details regarding Ford’s relationship to the child. The investigation remains ongoing as the community reacts to the disturbing allegations.
