Authorities believe the body discovered Thursday in Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve is that of Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede, who went missing on July 30. The remains were found in dense grass near 83rd Street and Chandelle Drive, with clothing matching what Abosede was last seen wearing. Foul play is not suspected, though final confirmation is pending from the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.

Naperville police were called to the trailhead at 1:55 p.m. Thursday after the body was reported. Joliet police located the remains in a thick area of high grass. Abosede, 5-foot-6 with black hair and brown eyes, had been wearing a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket, gray sweatpants, a black headscarf, and black Crocs when she disappeared. She also had a white water bottle at the time.

Earlier this week, a large-scale search was conducted by the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Emergency Management Agency, involving more than 40 volunteers, eight K-9 teams, and police drones, but the effort had been unsuccessful.

Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres expressed condolences, saying, “We are deeply saddened by this loss and extend our sincere condolences to the Abosede family during this difficult time. Thank you to everyone in our community who assisted with this investigation. We ask that everyone keep the family in your thoughts and respect their privacy.”

Forest Preserve District Police Chief David Pederson added, “Our hearts go out to Sinmi’s family, friends, and loved ones. We will continue to work closely with Naperville Police and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office to ensure this investigation is thorough and respectful.”
