Three Forks, MT – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal train accident Wednesday afternoon near the Milwaukee Fishing Access Site as 20-year-old Anna Steigerwald of Littleton, Colorado.

According to the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on August 13, when Steigerwald was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train. Emergency responders, including deputies and BNSF investigators, arrived quickly, but Steigerwald did not survive her injuries.

Gallatin County Sheriff Dan Springer extended condolences on behalf of his office, stating, “We wish to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all affected by the tragic loss of Anna.”

The circumstances leading up to the accident remain under investigation.
