Authorities are investigating the death of a 21-year-old man found shot in a Hackensack apartment Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the Park Lane Apartments on Union Street, located across from Anderson Park, around 2 p.m. on August 15. The young man, known to authorities, was discovered with a gunshot wound.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification was called to the scene to collect evidence, and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified of the incident.

Initial reports suggest the wound may have been self-inflicted, but authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death. No official determination has been made at this time.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld by police, as they await next-of-kin notifications. Authorities have confirmed that his most recent address was in Teaneck, N.J.
