Demetrice Darnell Beverly Obituary, Death; – A suspect has been apprehended in relation to a homicide that occurred on Wednesday evening at an apartment complex in Birmingham, as reported by the Birmingham Police Department.
At approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, officers from the South Precinct responded to an apartment located in the 1100 block of Lakeshore Ridge. Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered an adult male victim who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound. Personnel from Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived shortly thereafter and declared the victim deceased.
The victim has been identified as Demetrice Darnell Beverly, a 39-year-old resident of Birmingham. He was a wide receiver for the UA Pine Bluff football team from 2003 to 2007.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, the investigation revealed that the male victim and a female were present in the apartment when a male suspect entered, shot the victim, and subsequently fled the scene. The female individual called 911 and stayed at the location until the officers arrived.
The male suspect was apprehended in the parking lot of the apartment complex. He has been identified as De’Corlion Keshaun Robinson, a 23-year-old from Birmingham.
On Thursday, BPD Homicide Detectives provided case details to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, resulting in Robinson being charged with murder without bond and unlawful possession of a machine gun conversion device, for which a bond of $15,000 was set. Robinson is currently in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
