Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly hit-and-run crash earlier this week in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Thursday that the pedestrian killed was 33-year-old Marcos Antunez Dominguez.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded around 9:57 p.m. Monday to the intersection of 74th and Figueroa Streets, near the Harbor (110) Freeway, following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. When they arrived, Dominguez was found critically injured in the roadway after being struck by a car.

Investigators said Dominguez had been outside of a marked crosswalk when the vehicle hit him. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid. Despite efforts by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, Dominguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed his cause of death as injuries sustained in the crash. The case is now being investigated as a hit-and-run.

Police have not released a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Detectives stressed that tips from community members, eyewitness accounts, or surveillance footage could prove crucial in identifying the driver.
