Tell City Mourns the Loss of 18-year-old Evan W. Ewing who passes away suddenly

TELL CITY, Ind. — The Tell City community is grieving the sudden and tragic passing of 18-year-old Evan W. Ewing, who died on August 18, 2025. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, on February 20, 2007, Evan was the beloved son of Robert W. Ewing and Jamie L. Hockenberry. He was a student at Tell City High School.

Evan had a love for the outdoors, enjoying hiking, swimming, and cliff jumping. He also had a passion for small engine repair, often working on his scooter. Music was an important part of his life, with tastes spanning older country artists to rap. Evan shared his home with a red bearded dragon named Lava, affectionately nicknamed “Pretty Girl.”

He is survived by his father, Robert Ewing; foster father, Jason Corley (“Jay Jay”); sister, Lyndsey Ewing; and foster sister, Madison Corley. His mother, Jamie Hockenberry, preceded him in death.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to a visitation on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with a time for sharing memories at 6:00 PM.
