A tragic crash in Genesee County early Friday morning claimed the lives of two 20-year-olds from Florida.

According to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just before 6:20 a.m. to the intersection of West Bergen and Griswold roads in LeRoy after reports of a serious collision.

Investigators say Brianna Welsh, 20, of Apopka, Florida, was driving westbound on Griswold Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a dump truck hauling a trailer.

Welsh and her passenger, identified as 20-year-old Mallen Mello, also of Apopka, were both killed in the crash. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Authorities confirmed that another individual was injured in the collision, though further details about their condition have not yet been released.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
