In Loving Memory of Donametric “Tank” Hambrick Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donametric “Tank” Hambrick Jr., a cherished member of the incoming Savannah State University Class of 2029.

Donametric tragically lost his life in a drowning accident over the weekend, just days before he was scheduled to begin his college journey at Savannah State and move into Wright Hall.

Affectionately known as “Tank” for his determination and resilience, Donametric chose Savannah State over several other universities because of the deep connection he felt to the campus and community. A gifted scholar, he graduated high school with a 3.5 GPA and achieved the highest SAT score in his school.

He embodied the true Tiger spirit — overcoming adversity, striving for excellence, and leading with compassion. Even in passing, Donametric continued to inspire and uplift others. Through the selfless act of organ donation, he helped 65 individuals, leaving behind a legacy of strength and generosity.

To honor his memory, a scholarship fund has been established at Kendrick High School for future students who will continue their education at Savannah State University.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Donametric’s family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.
