Authorities are investigating after 18-year-old Antonio Sykes Jr., better known by his stage name Fbg Fatslime, was found shot to death inside a vehicle at a strip mall parking lot Friday evening.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:40 p.m. to the 1900 block of Berryhill Road, outside a smoke shop, where Sykes was discovered unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Shelby County Fire paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported hearing three to five gunshots before noticing the victim slumped inside the car. While some initially believed the young man to be in his early 20s, authorities later confirmed Sykes was just 18 years old.
Traffic along Berryhill Road was briefly restricted during the investigation but has since reopened. Officials noted the shooting is not expected to affect the scheduled football game at nearby Cordova High School.
As news of his death spread, grief poured out from family, friends, and fans mourning the loss of the rising artist, whose promising career was tragically cut short.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released any details about possible suspects or motives.
