Authorities continue the search for infant Emmanuel Haro after his father, Jake Haro, allegedly confessed to his death. Despite an extensive search along the westbound shoulder of the 60 Freeway near Gilman Springs Road, involving detectives and specially trained cadaver dogs, Emmanuel’s remains have not been located. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department emphasized to the public: “Baby Emmanuel has not been found.”
Both Jake Haro and his wife, Rebecca Renee Haro, were arrested at their Cabazon home on suspicion of murder and remain in custody without bail. Investigators say Rebecca’s initial report of an assault and kidnapping at a Yucaipa store contained inconsistencies, and evidence now indicates the infant is likely deceased.
Authorities noted that Jake Haro was already on probation for a prior child abuse case and out on bond for a separate firearm offense at the time of Emmanuel’s disappearance.
Sheriff’s officials described the case as “tragic” and thanked partner agencies and the public for their assistance. The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
