OKLAHOMA CITY – A tragic shooting over the weekend has left a 17-year-old girl dead and her boyfriend in custody.

The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. Saturday at a home near Northeast 20th Street and Bath Avenue. According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered a female victim inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, later identified as 17-year-old Shyanne Crawford, was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect, also 17, initially fled the scene but was later apprehended. He has since been booked into the Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center on a murder complaint.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting, but the investigation remains ongoing.

The case has left the community shaken, as both the victim and suspect were teenagers. Officials say more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
