North Texas – A day meant for fun on Eagle Mountain Lake turned tragic on Saturday evening when 50-year-old Jim “Jimmy Ninja” Chaikong drowned, leaving family, friends, and the local community in mourning.
Authorities reported that boaters heard cries for help from two children on the lake and were able to rescue them safely. Tragically, their father, Jimmy Chaikong, did not resurface. Emergency crews searched throughout the night, and by Sunday afternoon, his body was recovered near Crest Point, the area where he had disappeared.
Jimmy, widely known as Jimmy Ninja, was more than his accomplishments as a musician, songwriter, and MMA fighter. He was a devoted father, mentor, and friend whose big heart and sense of humor brought joy to everyone who knew him. “Those are babies and there’s nothing they could have done… their dad was their hero,” said close friend Uncle Ryano, reflecting on the children’s loss.
Beyond his personal achievements, Chaikong was a passionate advocate for independent artists across Texas, inspiring many to pursue their dreams in music and the arts. Friends and colleagues describe him as a source of guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support.
As the community grapples with the loss, friends have pledged to continue his legacy while focusing on supporting his children during this heartbreaking time.
Jimmy Chaikong’s life and spirit will be remembered not only for his talent and strength but for the love and joy he shared with his children, friends, and the wider community.
