The quiet evening of Tuesday, August 26, 2025, turned tragic in the Town of New Haven after a two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a young motorcyclist.

Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene at approximately 5:31 p.m. following reports of a crash on State Route 104B near the intersection of County Route 6.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2024 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on State Route 104B when the driver attempted to make a left-hand turn onto County Route 6.

At that moment, the motorcycle collided with a 2006 Ford F350 pickup truck that was moving eastbound along Route 104B. The force of the collision caused severe damage to the motorcycle and resulted in fatal injuries to its rider.

Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Scott Awe of New Haven, who was the sole occupant of the motorcycle. Tragically, despite the quick response from emergency personnel, Awe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither the driver nor the passenger in the Ford F350 sustained injuries, and both were able to remain at the scene while deputies carried out their investigation.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office closed portions of Route 104B for several hours as accident reconstruction specialists worked to piece together the circumstances that led to the collision.

Traffic was rerouted through nearby roadways, causing delays for local residents and commuters returning home during the evening rush. Crews remained on-site until late in the night to clear debris and restore the roadway to normal use.
