The Ground Zero community is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our dear friend and former board operator, Carlos Sanchez. To all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Carlos—affectionately known as “Carlitos”—was far more than just a colleague. He was a kind soul, a dedicated professional, and above all, a cherished friend. His passing leaves a void that words can scarcely capture.

Carlos had an infectious enthusiasm for his work and an undeniable passion for broadcasting. Whether he was behind the board or brainstorming new projects, he poured his heart into everything he did. His love for Ground Zero was evident from the very beginning. He often spoke about how the program gave him not only a professional outlet but also a family of like-minded individuals who shared his curiosity about the world, the unexplained, and the mysterious.

Although health challenges became a significant part of his journey in recent years, Carlos never lost his spark. He faced adversity with quiet courage, never allowing it to completely overshadow his love for radio, his laughter, or his commitment to others. Even when his health made it difficult to be present in the studio, he stayed connected and continued to dream big about what was possible for the future.

One of those dreams was a paranormal podcast in Spanish, a project he and Clyde had been excited to launch together. Carlos was passionate about reaching new audiences and creating a space for Spanish-speaking listeners who shared his interest in the supernatural and the unknown. It was just one example of his creative vision and his deep desire to bring people together through stories, ideas, and shared experiences.

Beyond the board and the microphones, Carlos was loved for who he was as a person. His warmth, humor, and compassion touched countless lives. He was the kind of friend who listened without judgment, who offered encouragement when it was needed most, and who found joy in celebrating the successes of those around him. For those fortunate enough to know him personally, he was a source of light and positivity, even in difficult times.

As we mourn his passing, our thoughts turn especially to his family and close friends. We recognize the enormity of their loss, and we stand with them in grief and remembrance. While nothing can erase the pain of losing Carlos so soon, we hope they find comfort in knowing how much he meant to so many people.
