Hunter Bates Obituary, Death; – A 19-year-old male suspect, who fatally shot a 20-year-old man on Interstate 85 in Mecklenburg County on Thursday, is currently being pursued by law enforcement and is considered armed and dangerous.

At 3:47 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, Virginia State Police troopers received reports of a shooting on I-85 northbound at mile marker 5 in Mecklenburg.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered a Honda Civic that had veered off the right side of the roadway and came to a stop in a culvert.
The driver, identified as 20-year-old Hunter Bates, was declared dead at the scene, as confirmed by state police.
On Friday, August 29, the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Appomattox Field Office, announced that they had identified the individual responsible for the fatal shooting as 19-year-old Jason Allen Glidewell II from Bracey.
Glidewell, whose image is provided below, is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds.
Law enforcement officials are actively searching for Glidewell, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. The state police have issued warrants for two offenses: second-degree murder and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Glidewell is thought to have connections to Richmond and Henrico, and authorities suspect he was driving a silver 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche with Virginia license plate number TFN 1004.
A female passenger was taken to a local hospital but has since been released.
