EL PASO, Texas — The El Paso Police Department has identified the man who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash in Northeast El Paso early Sunday morning. The victim, 55-year-old Edward Hererra, died after his motorcycle collided with a curb and a road sign, according to authorities.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on the 6800 block of Fred Wilson. Police say Hererra was riding a black Harley-Davidson at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. The impact caused him to be ejected from the motorcycle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have identified speed as a contributing factor in the fatal crash. No other vehicles were involved. Emergency responders arrived quickly but were unable to save Hererra.

This incident marks the 40th traffic-related fatality in El Paso in 2025, compared to 41 at the same point last year. Police continue to urge motorists to drive safely, obey speed limits, and take precautions, especially late at night or in areas with higher traffic risks.

The El Paso Police Department’s Traffic Division is actively investigating the crash to determine all contributing factors.
