MONTEREY, Ky. — A Louisville man has died following a shooting in Owen County, and the suspect has been charged with murder, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).
Authorities responded to a call around 2 a.m. Saturday near the Monterey community, where they found 26-year-old Jamar Douglas unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Douglas was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries but was pronounced dead at 1:11 a.m. Sunday.
Following the incident, 52-year-old Gary Bullion of Ghent, Kentucky, was arrested and now faces several charges, including murder. Additional charges listed on the Carroll County Detention Center’s website include first-degree first-offense possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bullion is currently held at the Carroll County Detention Center.
The investigation into the shooting remains active as authorities continue to gather information.
