Sean Nicholas Watson Obituary, Death; Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Sean Nicholas Watson Obituary, Death; – Detectives from the Homicide Unit of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are currently engaged in a homicide investigation concerning an incident that took place in the 200 block of Hoskins Mill Lane within the Freedom Division.

On Thursday, August 28, shortly after midnight, officers responded to a call regarding an Assault with a Deadly Weapon in the 200 block of Hoskins Mill Lane. Upon their arrival, officers found the victim, Sean Nicholas Watson, aged 48, suffering from a gunshot wound.

MEDIC transported Watson to Atrium Health, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, on Saturday, August 30, Watson passed away due to his injuries.

Following the ongoing investigation, CMPD detectives identified Davis Gary Graves, aged 40, as a suspect related to this case and secured arrest warrants.

On Sunday, August 31, the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) of the CMPD located and apprehended Graves.

Graves was subsequently taken to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC), where he underwent an interview with homicide detectives. After the interview concluded, Graves was placed in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

He faces charges of Murder and Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. The next of kin of Mr. Graves has been informed of his death and the subsequent arrest.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. As new information becomes available, it will be disseminated by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
