HUNTSVILLE, Ala — Police in Huntsville are investigating a tragic case in which a father and his young son were found dead inside their home following a fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire around 3 p.m. and discovered the bodies of 21-year-old Dominic Kane Tucker and his son, who was just one month shy of his second birthday, in a bedroom.

According to investigators, evidence at the scene and autopsy results from the Alabama Department of Forensics revealed that both victims died from gunshot wounds prior to the fire. A firearm recovered at the scene was confirmed to be the weapon used.

Authorities have determined the incident to be a murder-suicide. The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the tragedy remains ongoing.
