Jason L. Cutshall Fatally Injured in Tractor Accident in Greene County

A tragic accident in Greene County claimed the life of Jason L. Cutshall on Friday evening after a tree-cutting operation went horribly wrong.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. in the 1500 block of Little Meadow Road. Cutshall, a resident of 310 Walters Road, was reportedly using a tractor to place tension on a tree while cutting it.

Deputy Cecilia Wright’s report stated that once the tree was cut, the tractor rolled backward just as the tree fell, causing them to collide. The impact trapped Cutshall between the tractor and the falling tree. Witnesses, who had been standing in a nearby driveway, told deputies the tree was too large for them to move off the victim.

Emergency crews, including the St. James Volunteer Fire Department, Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, and Greene County-Greeneville EMS, responded to the scene. Nearby farmers provided equipment to help free Cutshall from the wreckage.

Greene County EMS Assistant Director Wes Miller told deputies that nothing appeared unusual or suspicious about the incident, describing it as a tragic accident. Cutshall’s body was transported to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in Johnson City for an autopsy due to the severe nature of his injuries.

Emergency Chaplain Danny Ricker was also called to the scene to comfort witnesses and later visited Cutshall’s family to offer support in the wake of the sudden loss.

Cutshall is remembered by friends and neighbors as a hardworking and kind-hearted man whose life ended far too soon. Authorities have not reported any ongoing investigation into the incident.
