Authorities have identified Taevon Jamir Arnold, 31, as the man who died following a shooting in Birmingham last week.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred on August 8 in the 1400 block of 1st Avenue North. Arnold and another victim sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to UAB Hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, Arnold succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.

Birmingham Police confirmed that a suspect connected to the shooting was taken into custody on Saturday, though the individual’s identity has not yet been released. Details surrounding the motive or circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
