Eric Dugger Obituary, Death; – A driver was charged after a motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Catawba County on Tuesday afternoon, according to troopers.
The motorcycle rider, identified as 34-year-old Eric Dugger, of Newton, died from his injuries at the scene of the wreck, officials said.
Records showed the other driver involved, Troy Griffith, 55, of Cumming, Georgia, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to yield the right of way. The collision reportedly happened around 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, along Highway 10 near Shiloh Road in Claremont.
Troopers said Griffith collided with Dugger when he tried to turn left from Shiloh Road. Reports stated that Dugger died at the scene of the crash, and Griffith was not injured. An investigation revealed speed or impairment were not contributing factors in the collision.
