Suspect in Shooting Death of Mother’s Boyfriend Taken Into Custody in Prince George’s County

Prince George’s County Police have arrested 24-year-old Clarence Green Jr. of Accokeek in connection with the murder of his mother’s boyfriend, 38-year-old Gene Garrett Jr., also of Accokeek.

On August 8, 2025, shortly after midnight, officers responded to a shooting report at a residence on the 16000 block of Caribbean Way. Upon arrival, officers found Garrett suffering from gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Green and Garrett, who were co-habitants and known to each other. Green was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

He faces charges including first-degree murder, assault, and other related offenses, and is currently held without bond in the Department of Corrections.
