Isabell Erwin Obituary, Death; – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has identified a woman found dead after her house was hit by two dump trucks in Sparta on Thursday. The body of Isabell Erwin, 89, was recovered from inside the home.

Deputies say the brakes on one of the trucks failed as it was coming down the hill on Harter Road near Culbertson Road. Investigators say it then hit another dump truck and the two vehicles struck Erwin’s house. The crash caused the home to become engulfed in flames.

As crews worked to fight the fire, EMS addressed the drivers of the trucks and transported them to Strong Memorial Hospital. The sheriff’s office says both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say the dump trucks were each hauling 20 tons of asphalt from Honeoye Falls to North Dansville when the crash happened.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation into the crash and Erwin’s death is ongoing.
