Jasmine Batiste Obituary, Death; – A woman has lost her life and another individual has been taken into custody following a suspected DUI incident in Beaumont over the weekend.

At 1:07 a.m. on Sunday, the Beaumont Police received a call regarding a significant collision involving two vehicles in the 3000 block of Washington Boulevard.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered that the victim was traveling west on Washington when she was hit by the suspect, who was driving east, as stated by Beaumont Police spokesperson Chancellor Van Houten.

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Lajanara Stevenson, appeared to be under the influence and was subsequently arrested, according to Van Houten.

The victim, who was declared dead at the scene by EMS, has been identified as 19-year-old Jasmine Batiste.
Stevenson was transported to a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, after which she was booked into the Jefferson County jail, as reported by Van Houten.
