Mitchell Hughes Obituary, Death;- On Monday, authorities in Pulaski County identified a man who perished in a house fire the previous week, which officials believe may have been ignited after the victim and others were grilling on the back porch.

Deputies arrived at 18519 Dallas Lane around 9:03 p.m. on Wednesday, where they discovered a house completely engulfed in flames, according to an incident report. The neighbor who dialed 911 indicated that Mitchell Hughes, 69, from Little Rock, was likely still inside the home.

Firefighters ultimately found Hughes’ charred remains within the residence, as stated in the report. Deputies had attempted to reach him by breaking two windows with crowbars, but their efforts were in vain, the report notes.

Witnesses, including the individual who called 911, informed deputies that Hughes and others had been grilling on the back porch of the residence earlier that day, and they suspected that this activity was the cause of the fire.
